The Genesis for Papa"Pooch"inelli came about because of a special miniature
schnauzer named Timmy. My then future wife bought Tmmy from a pet shop
on Christmas Eve 1994. She did not know it, but he was only 6 weeks old
and had been exposed to Parvovirus. He bcame very ill on Christmas day
and spent the Christmas Season being shuttled from veterinarian to veterinarian.
Timmy was lucky - he survived. Some of his siblings did not. Later in life, he was diagnosed with kidney diease and was placed on a prescription diet and took many different medications. He slowly deteriorated to the point that he would not get off the bed. About this time, my wife and I had a chance meeting with a homeopath who suggested that we take Timmy off all his medications and treat him with diffferent herbs and change him to a home cooked vegetarian diet. Prior to making such a radical change, we consulted with a very comapassionate and open minded veterinarian in San Francisco who agreed with our course of action given how close to death Timmy truly was. Within 2 weeks of trying his new regimin, he was jumping off the bed and playing with his Black Labrador Retreiver Sister, Annie. We were lucky to have Timmy another 2 years until his body just gave out and he passed in March, 2005. As Timmy's situation worsened over those two years, we were lucky to meet many holistic and homeopathic practicioners. Through them we have learned so much about nutrition, dog foods and the importance of the foods we feed our animals. It was through the learning that Timmy afforded us that we founded Papa"Pooch" inelli with the single purpose to make the tastiest, most nutritious treats possible. In Timmy's memory, we adopted a simple motto:
